MARRIAGE: In order for us to attend to your interest in celebrating the Sacrament of Matrimony, and in order that all necessary requirements of Canon Law are in compliance, please take note of the following guidelines:

    1. Call the parish office 360-832-6363 at least (6) six months in advance of the date you wish to celebrate your marriage.  Request an appointment to meet with Deacon Rod or the Pastor for the preliminary orientation. Please have any required documents (see below) ready at the time of the appointment. You must be active, registered member of the parish.

     2. You will need to present a recently issued copy of Baptismal Certificates for both parties. This includes Baptisms celebrated in a non-Catholic rite.

    3. You may also be required to present a copy of First Communion and Confirmation Certificates. Photo copies of these is acceptable. NOTE: The Sacrament of Marriage cannot be received unless proof of Confirmation is available.

    4. If the applicants are already civilly married (by Court), a copy of the Marriage License is required.

    5. If there has been any previous marriages, a copy of the Dissolution Of Marriage by the Court (Divorce Papers) and a copy of Annulment Papers from a Diocesan Tribunal are required. If you have not gone thru the Annulment process yet Deacon Rod is an Advocate for the Tribunal and can assist you in this process.

    6. One witness for each applicant, preferable a family member, will be asked to present themselves to the Deacon or Pastor for the Pre-Nuptual interview.

    7. Provided both parties requesting the Sacrament of Matrimony are in agreement, a non-Catholic person is not an impediment for the Sacrament of Matrimony to be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel.

    8. When the applicants have secured all the required documents they need to set a meeting with the Pastor or Deacon for the Pre-Nuptual interviews. It is important that both applicants are interviewed on the same day. Interviews for the witnesses need not be conducted on the same day as the applicants.

    9. The applicants for the Sacrament of Matrimony will be required to attend a "Weekend Engaged Encounter Retreat" sponsored by the Archdiocese of Seattle.

    10. The date of the wedding ceremony can only be scheduled after the Pre-Nuptual interviews are completed. Please DO NOT MAKE ANY COMMITMENTS with a hotel or banquet hall for the wedding reception or print invitations UNTIL the Pre-Nuptual interview is held and the Pastor/Deacon indicates that the process of marriage preparation is in order.

    11. For any questions, please call Our Lady of Good Counsel office at 360-832-6363 and consult with Deacon Rod.
